McLean came up through the various positions in the film industry, starting out acting then had the opportunity to move into stunt performing and stunt coordinating. This lead him into the position of second unit directing.

he has directed second unit action sequences on some of the largest shows, from Star Trek Discovery to Robo Cop.

 

McLean is a main unit director  but still loves the challenge of directing action sequences for TV and movies.
